ISO9660… what you should have always known but never dared to ask… or is it a clone?

Hi guys,

this is my first post on develz.org.

I have to say, this is nothing I do easily. I love my silence and keeping a low profile is helping a lot :)

But I have to admit today is somewhat special:

I nearly lost my temper when I copied a CD yesterday just to find out today that I merely tried to copy it…

The image is garbage. It is broken. FOOBAR. Just a bunch of useless binary data. At least this is what file tells me:

calimero:~# file /media/Buffalo_1TB/ISO/be2009.iso
/media/Buffalo_1TB/ISO/be2009.iso: data

But if it were just that… The burned image is… garbage.

And I don’t have a clue why, because there is no copy protection scheme used or something strange in the error log… Just a bunch of useless data.

So I have to get the stuff again. Marvelous.

*sigh*

Just reading from the error log from the attempt to write the CD, I found out that I missed to move the .toc file to the right location so it could accompany the image as well…What a mess. And I found out while writing this post.

I don’t have to add that it’s not working, do I?

Yours sincerely

Cardiano
